Where Every Pizza Tells a Story

It all started in 2003 when founder Dewey Collins returned from a culinary trip through Naples, Italy, obsessed with one thing: the perfect pizza. He opened a small spot on West 5th Avenue in Columbus with a second-hand oven, a handful of local suppliers, and an unwavering belief that great pizza changes how people connect.

Twenty years later, that belief still drives everything we do. We source our tomatoes from the same Ohio farms, stretch our dough by hand every morning, and use a sourdough starter that's been alive since day one. Every pizza that leaves our kitchen carries decades of love, learning, and local pride.

2003

The First Slice

Dewey Collins opens the original Dewey's Pizza at 1327 W 5th Ave, Columbus with a refurbished Italian wood-fired oven and a dream of authentic Neapolitan pizza in Ohio.

2006

Columbus's Best Pizza Award

The Columbus Dispatch names Dewey's "Best Pizza in Columbus" — our first major recognition. The line stretches around the block every weekend for a full year.

2010

The Local Farm Partnership

We formalize partnerships with six Ohio farms to source all produce locally. Our Seasonal Special menu launches, featuring rotating toppings harvested within 100 miles.

2015

Catering & Events Launch

Dewey's expands into catering for corporate events, weddings, and community gatherings across central Ohio, bringing handcrafted pizza to every celebration.

2019

Gluten-Free & Vegan Menu

Responding to our community's needs, we launch a full gluten-free crust option and a dedicated vegan menu — ensuring there's a Dewey's pizza for everyone.

2023

20th Anniversary & Beyond

We celebrate two decades of handcrafted pizza with our biggest community event yet. Over 500,000 pizzas served, and we're just getting started. The next chapter is the best one.

Founder & Head Pizzaiolo

The original dreamer. Dewey trained in Naples and brought Neapolitan tradition to Columbus with an Ohio twist. Still stretches dough by hand every Friday morning.

Maria Santos

Executive Chef

With a culinary degree from OSU and 12 years of kitchen experience, Maria leads recipe development and ensures every pie that leaves our kitchen is perfect.

James Okafor

General Manager

James keeps the whole operation running smoothly. A Columbus native, he's been with Dewey's for 10 years and knows every regular by name and favorite order.
